They created an old fashioned ice cream trailer to go with it. The bar was called the Gay 90’s Bar for the 1890’s time period in which it was built and it became a fixture on the midway of the Maryland State Fair from 1965-1984. ![]() They restored and fashioned the bar into a trailer to make it transportable. At the same time, they acquired an early 19th century bar which had been in storage since the Prohibition. They purchased a circa 1840’s Butler stone farm house in Timonium known as Henry’s Delight and did all the restoration themselves. With one success to their credit and 2 young children, in true American spirit, they decided to expand their horizons and move to Baltimore where they bought their first historic home restoration project in 1957. This developed into a food concession, restaurant equipment and catering business over the next 3 decades. Once they graduated, they married in 1952 and set the foundation for a career in entrepreneurship with their first ice cream and sandwich shop on US 40 in Havre de Grace called the “Cup N Cone”. The dynamic duo met at University of Maryland College Park in 1950. She perfected these passions over a life time, along with her husband Thomas Emory Cox.
